Master Black Belt Exam Format
I'm debating on getting my master black belt, however I am trying to find out how this exam is put together. Is it all multiple choice or is there a writing section also. I have seen it where it is both ways, but no definative answer.

Hi, My coworker got her MBB certification last year and told me that half the test is multiple choice and the other half is in essay format. You'll have 4 scenarios given to you in which you have to write an essay on each one to describe your insights, next steps or how you might coach someone to go forward in their scenario. I'm studing to take the MBB exam myself, hopefully in July and am submitting my paperwork (and large fee) today!

The exam consists of both multiple-choice and written sections.

The multiple-choice section typically covers topics such as statistical analysis, process improvement methodologies, and project management. The questions may be scenario-based or require you to apply your knowledge to solve problems.

The written section typically requires you to demonstrate your ability to apply Lean Six Sigma principles and tools to a real-world project. You may be asked to submit a project report or complete a case study analysis.

Exams are given twice a year (in July and November) and are administered by computer-based testing (CBT), which is provided by ASQ's testing partner Prometric. Every participant is responsible for bringing their own books and resources to use as references. The Frequently Asked Questions provide guidance on how to make use of various reference books and calculators. nerdle
